July 4th Emergency Generator Failure Response
A Holiday Morning Power Emergency
At approximately 7:00 a.m. on July 4th, SOL Training received an emergency call during a PG&E power outage in Pine Mountain Lake. The property’s standby generator had failed to start when backup power was needed.
A carbon monoxide alarm and HVAC failure were also part of the circumstances, adding to the urgency of the situation. The immediate concern, however, was determining why the generator was not operating during the utility outage.
Restoring Confidence During an Unexpected Outage
With PG&E power unavailable, the generator was expected to provide backup electricity. Its failure to start meant the issue needed to be inspected quickly so the cause could be identified and the generator system addressed.
Because the call came early on a major holiday, access to local emergency generator support was especially important.
Prompt On-Site Emergency Response
SOL Training responded to the property to inspect the generator and check its operating status. Through its Service Agreement, qualifying Pine Mountain Lake customers can receive generator diagnostics, repairs, physical inspections, maintenance support, and 24/7 emergency assistance.
The technician’s on-site response allowed the generator problem to be assessed directly rather than leaving the customer uncertain about why the system had failed.
Pinpointing the Generator Fault
During the inspection, the technician identified the fuel solenoid as the source of the generator problem. The fuel solenoid was repaired, addressing the fault that had prevented the generator from starting during the PG&E outage.
The Outcome
By responding on July 4th and identifying the generator fault, SOL Training was able to address the equipment issue during an active power outage. The incident demonstrated the value of fast diagnostics and experienced local support when a standby generator does not operate as expected.
24/7 Generator Support Through SOL Training
Through its Service Agreement, SOL Training provides qualifying Pine Mountain Lake customers with generator diagnostics, repairs, maintenance, physical inspections, and 24/7 emergency response. This type of local support can be especially valuable when generator problems occur outside normal business hours, during outages, or on major holidays.
